Error logs show what went wrong when your site shows an error such as 500 Internal Server Error or a blank page.
- Connect to your hosting with SFTP (see Find your access details and connect with FileZilla).
- Open the `logs` folder in your SFTP home folder. It sits next to `public_html`.
- Download the newest error log and open it with a text editor.
- Look at the last lines. They show the time, the file and the line that caused the error.
Common fixes
- A plugin or theme error: rename its folder in `wp-content/plugins` or `wp-content/themes` and reload.
- A missing file: upload it again.
If you need help, open a ticket and paste the last few lines of the log.
